Miraz Art Space presents When/Where, a solo exhibition by acclaimed Iraqi Kurdish artist Avan Sdiq, curated by Shad Abdulkarim. Bringing together sculpture, video, and painting, the exhibition invites audiences into an immersive exploration of time, space, and perception.
Opened on 9 October 2025, When/Where will run until 9 January 2026, transforming the gallery into a site of shifting perspectives where reality and illusion coexist.
In this exhibition, Sdiq’s works unfold as layered compositions that challenge the boundaries of observation and participation. Transparent surfaces, fluid forms, and oscillating sequences draw viewers into an active dialogue with the artwork, where meaning evolves through movement and engagement.
Curator Shad Abdulkarim highlights Sdiq’s ability to connect personal memory with universal experience, positioning her work within broader questions of presence, language, and belonging. “Avan’s practice captures the tension between stillness and motion, between what is seen and what is remembered,” says Abdulkarim. “When/Where invites viewers to experience art not as an object, but as an encounter.”
Through this exhibition, Miraz Art Space continues its commitment to showcasing contemporary voices from the Middle East and diaspora, fostering cross-cultural dialogue and experimentation.
